Benchmark Testing - Week 3 Day 2

A. Strict press: build to 1RM = 105 (5lb PR)

WU then 3@75-85, 2@90, 1@95-100-105-107.5(f). It's not much but anytime you hit a PR on a serious weakness is a good day so I'll take it. 100lb (my previous max) went up solidly too, so that was nice. Watching the video of the 107.5 fail is weird - it looks like I just needed to fight a little but during the lift it felt like I was fighting harder than it appears! B. 3 sets of 1) AMRAP unbroked strict pullups; 60s rest; 2) 2-3 banded HSPUs; 2 min rest.

Hahahahaaaaaaa....yeah. The banded HSPUs did not happen - even with the lightest band I could not complete a full depth rep. After a few attempts before starting the sets, I bailed on it and went with 7 strict HSPUs sans band. Pullups went 15-13-12.

C. 5 rounds @ PRE 75/80/85/90/95%
7 squat cleans (95)
14 burpees
400m run

1) 3:46
2) 3:27
3) 3:11
4) 2:57
5) 2:50 - this felt much more like a 100% effort than 95%, doubt I could have hit more than a few seconds faster.

Interesting workout - I had pretty much the same pace on the squat cleans each round (unbroken), then picked it up on both the burpees and run each time. I had no idea how this would go but I feel like I hit the pacing pretty solidly. The jump in round 2 may have been a bit aggressive and maybe why I felt like I was at 100% rather than 95% by round 5. FUN.

I am a little worried about the FS max tomorrow. My left hip has been acting up - I've been nursing it since a stupid lunge workout about a month ago, and it's sending up very similar warning signs to when I ended up with high hamstring tendon and TFL issues back in my running days. I could feel it on the 400m runs, especially as the pace picked up - the hip feels unstable, like it was collapsing on each stride. I can see that drop in the hip on all of the squat videos (including standing up yesterday's snatch). It is definitely the weaker side. We'll see how the squats go but I may not be able to push the weight too much.
